These Aren't the Cloth Diapers That Padded Your Bum

Disposable diapers are really terrible for the environment so I was looking around for some cloth diapers on the internet to get as a gift for a friend of mine.

I remembered when my sister was little and me helping my mother fold the laundry - I still know how to fold a cloth diaper so it can't be all that hard. Cloth diapers are so much better for the environment than these disposable ones that are popular these days. I figure that if I can still remember how to fold a cloth diaper then anybody should be able to use them.

But you know, it was really difficult to find the old style, folded cloth diapers that padded my bum during the days when I had softer skin. Now there's these cloth diapers that are sewn into a disposable style diaper shape. They also come with velcro straps so there's no folding or needles required. New cloth diapers are thicker and have more absorption

Why pamper your baby's bum with plastic that's going to end up in the landfill when you can do it with cotton and micro-fiber absorption pad inserts that soak up and hold in all the mess.

There are so many different colors and prints in the Diapers.com - New Green Baby Section that there's bound to be something you like.

I totally realize that the disposal diapers are bad for the environment, however in this hectic day and age those diapers are very convenient. It isn't necessarily the consumers fault. Yes we do have a choice but companies designing and selling them should be using more environmentally friendly materials.

Just my 2 cent.

That's a bit of a cop-out on your part. I'm sure every generation before us has said the same thing about the times: "such a hectic day and age". But that's not a good enough excuse to not buy more environmentally friendly products.

We can't leave the onus on the manufacturer to do the right thing, they're not looking out for us or the world, they are looking to make a buck.

I really like my fuzzi bunz and bum genius diapers. I'd really really love a cross between the two. Fuzzi bunz uses snaps instead of velcro - takes a few seconds longer for me, but more likely to stay on a toddler! Bum genius has a little lip of waterproof material that folds over the inside of the diaper to prevent accidental wicking.

I extra love that they're both created and sold by work at home moms, not a corporate conglomerate!

Personally, I think I'd rather ask a mom how to care for a baby than a corporate conglomerate. ;)

I guess I just think that a mom would be putting more love and care into it and really know what's best for the baby.
