Relocating a Feral Honeybee Hive to a Manageable Hive

This is my first attempt at relocating a feral honeybee hive into my own manageable hive. I was informed by a neighbor that these bees were where they are and that the land they are on was going to be under development shortly. There is a chance that the hive will be destroyed if I can't get them out in time.

I want to move them and try and save them because these honeybees have survived unmanaged in this climate and region successfully. Since they've survived without the help of man I think they are strong and worthy and that their genetics are worth trying to preserve.

Although they are unmanaged and living in northern Mexico they seem to be fairly easy to work with and although I don't know how to tell the difference between Africanized and non-Africanized, my guess is that they have not been Africanized because of their gentle nature.

Don't forget that this is my first try ever with a feral hive, and that I've only had bees for less than a year. I'm really nervous and probably even a bit scared about doing this whole moving of the bees.

So far I haven't had a chance to move them completely. The first two videos are me getting them ready for the move. It's a longer process than I thought and I had a surprise that made me have to rethink and re-plan the move.

Enjoy the videos!
